Hey everyone!

On Thursday August 18, 2011 - The Abbey Theatre is pleased to announce "An
Evening Of Womens Blues & Rock & Roll with *Carolyn Wonderland*, *Peter Karp
& Sue Foley* and* Megean Tubb* - with presentations from local
organizations *SASO*, *The Womens Resource Center* and *Big Sisters*".  Not
only will we showcase 3 incredible female blues musicians but in between
each show, we will give the mic to 3 incredible local women's organizations
so they can inform the Durango community about their organizations and allow
people to sign up, volunteer and become apart of the vital organizations
that keep the 4 corners area positive and progressive.    We would love
organize interviews with not only the artists but the organizations as well
- we have all contact informations below.

"He Said - She Said" is the new inspired show featuring a collaboration of
original songs by Peter Karp and Sue Foley. The project is based around a
correspondence the two shared through letters that were written over a year
period. These letters started as a casual exchange between two committed
performers sharing their common bond of the loneliness of the road, the pain
of separation from family and home and above all, the drive to make music.
But as time went on the letters they shared became more poignant, more
revealing. Those letters became their songs. The result is "He Said - She
Said." The show features songs of two artists in development, sharing
artistic purpose and spiritual kinship in a meeting of hearts and minds.
Whether they're performing as an acoustic duo or with their electric band
the music encompasses elements of folk, jazz, flamenco, and blues resulting
in a show that is moving, literate, romantic, rocking and exciting.

Blues Revue Magazine says *" 'He Said - She Said' is a unique, daring idea
beautifully executed by two talented, inspired artists unafraid to express
themselves outside of - but still influenced by - their respective genres."*

The "He Said-She Said" CD has been released to rave reviews.

Somewhere up there your favorite long-gone artist is creating music the
likes of which our mortal ears cannot comprehend. We pay homage to these
souls

of a bygone era with a seance of classic rock, blues, soul, and funk written
from the perspective of inanimate objects of nature and creatures apart
from

ourselves. In the past 5 years the band has managed to win a battle of the
bands competition, open for Willie Nelson (twice), get 2 guitar
sponsorships

from both Dean and Luna Guitars and their song, "Let Me Believe" won an
Independent Music Award for Best Song in the Blues category. Their Feb 2011

release ?Cast Your Shadow? produced by Stephen Doster has received rave
reviews and regular airplay within Austin, Colorado, Arizona, and beyond.

Since their new release, the band has toured the Louisiana, Switzerland, and

*About SASO

Sexual Assault Services Organization, originally known as the Rape
Intervention Team, was established in 1977 by a handful of grassroots
volunteers recruited by a hospital social worker who had grown frustrated by
the difficulties encountered by women seeking assistance for sexual
assaults.  Initially, services were offered only to victims seeking care at
the hospital, but soon a 24-hour crisis line was added to enable SASO to
anonymously and confidentially serve many more victims. Incorporated in
1989, SASO presently offers support and assistance provided by trained
volunteer advocates and SASO staff that includes: 24-hour crisis
intervention and counseling; medical and legal advocacy during forensic
exams, law enforcement interviews, and court proceedings; two weekly support
groups and financial assistance for individual therapy; and referrals to
other agencies.

Over time, SASO developed more community awareness and prevention programs.
In 1990, SASO added its first comprehensive prevention program, the Child
Assault Prevention Program (CAPP), a school-based national curriculum that
aims to lessen children?s vulnerability to all forms of abuse including
sexual abuse. In 2002, after determining that a third of SASO?s hotline
calls concerned teen victims, SASO began developing comprehensive prevention
programs for secondary schools and now offers ?by-stander intervention?
programs for Middle, High School, and College populations.

Recognizing the vulnerability of the immigrant community in Durango, in 2007
SASO created the Council on Sexual Violence Prevention specifically
targeting outreach for the immigrant community.  In 2008 the first male
Executive Director (one of the first in the country) was hired at SASO, and
in 2009 Spanish services were made available on the 24-hour confidential
hotline.

To this day, SASO continues offering a 24-hour confidential hotline,
prevention programs (Kindergarten through College), outreach to vulnerable
populations, and support groups for victims of sexual assault.


ABOUT BIG SISTERS


For over a century, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been helping change kids?
perspectives and giving them the opportunity to reach their potential. And
we have over a century of volunteers, donors, and advocates just like you to
thank.

It all started in 1904, when a young New York City court clerk named Ernest
Coulter was seeing more and more boys come through his courtroom. He
recognized that caring adults could help many of these kids stay out of
trouble, and he set out to find volunteers. That marked the beginning of the
Big Brothers movement.

At around the same time, the members of a group called Ladies of Charity
were befriending girls who had come through the New York Children?s Court.
That group would later become Catholic Big Sisters.

Both groups continued to work independently until 1977, when Big Brothers
Association and Big Sisters International joined forces and became Big
Brothers Big Sisters of America.

More than 100 years later, Big Brothers Big Sisters remains true to our
founders? vision of bringing caring role models into the lives of children.

ABOUT WOMEN RESOURCE CENTER

The Women's Resource Center in Durango, Colorado, advocates for the personal
empowerment and economic self-sufficiency of women and families in La Plata
County

Since opening  in 1987, the Center has grown from helping 200 women in our
first year to expanding the scope of our services and programs to assist
more than 2,000 women, men, and children annually.

   - For women and families in crisis or transition, we provide a road map
   of resources to help them reach a place of emotional and financial
   stability.
